The latest anime-related festival event home video release I’ve bought. Come to think of it, there are a few in my video collection such as Working’s Wagnaria Daikanshasai festival and the Ano Hana Fes. which I re-watch from time to time.
This one features the 2-day festival held by TYPE-MOON back in July 7th and 8th, 2012 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center that celebrated its 10th year anniversary of the company. The blu-ray release of it comes with quite a considerable amount of extra content.

There are 4 discs to this boxset, 3 BDs and 1 drama CD.
Discs 1 and 2 features the first and second day of the festival respectively. Most of the activities and footages revolve around interviews and music performances with several key staff that have worked on TYPE-MOON properties such as Yuki Kajiura and Kalafina, along with a discussion of the best scenes from Fate/ZERO and a “Hibichika Radio” program that focuses on the results of the 10 most popular male and female characters as voted by the fans on TYPE-MOON’s official website.
The third disc contains a completely brand new episode of Carnival Phantasm, the promotional videos for Kara no Kyoukai’s Mirai Fukuin and “Next TYPE-MOON” trailer in addition to 10 years of TYPE-MOON’s opening videos to their game releases. I haven’t listened to the drama CD yet but will probably do it within the next few days; actually curious as to what it will contain.
For the packaging, I really like the fact that the back of the foldout digipak holders for the discs contains shiny outlines of just about every TYPE-MOON characters in chibi form.
The bonus booklet contains profiles and several interviews with the special guests and staff that appeared at the festival as well as brief outlines of TYPE-MOON properties. There’s also a two page feature where Nasu Kinoko comments on the character poll results to the majority of the top 10 that the fans voted. It’s funny that he says he’s really surprised how Ryougi Shiki managed to come in at no. 2 since she’s such a dark and dangerous heroine (although suspects the Kara no Kyoukai movies done by ufotable maybe have something to do with it) but he’s still very happy and thankful for everyone that voted for her.
What really caught my attention in the booklet though was the chronological history timeline that was spread over two pages detailing the company’s early foundation and their visual novel/artbooks/DVD/BD/CD releases to their most recent event, the 10th anniversary festival. Quite an insight into their longevity in my opinion.
There are also some artworks and messages left by the staff from the festival.
And the inner side to both the front and back covers fold out to reveal chibi drawings of nearly all the TYPE-MOON characters with their “thank-you messages”. I put the quotations in for the thank-you messages because they are not signed with the names of the seiyuus that voice them but rather with their character names as if it was like they were actually thanking TYPE-MOON in person.
One last thing that came with this BD set. Two A3 size posters were included as part of the manufacturer’s early pre-order bonus campaign featuring Saber, Aozaki Aoko, Arcueid and Ryougi Shiki.
And that’s pretty much it for this set! I’m still anticipating a release date and eventual BD release for Kara no Kyoukai’s Mirai Fukuin having watched the promotional video that came from this boxset. XD
