With this, Shana III is finally complete while I only have one more volume to go for Ano Natsu. Shirokuma Cafe is the only new series I’ve started importing and from what I’ve been hearing, the series looks to be like 48 episodes, which will no doubt have a big number of volumes released. It’ll probably be the second longest series that I’ve imported the Japanese DVD/BD releases of if I stick with it until the end (the longest one being the Shakugan no Shana series).

Volume 5 of Ano Natsu. Don’t really have anything to say other than one more volume to go.
Final volume of Shakugan no Shana III. Must make some priority to actually finish off watching this final season now that I’ve completed importing this series.
Also got Animate’s store exclusive bonus Shana mascot phone strap with this final volume after purchasing all 8 volumes from their store.
Now for my new series import, Shirokuma Cafe. Don’t know exactly why but the blu-ray release for this series is only available to buy exclusively from Animate stores in Japan and its online shop. I assume they must’ve struck some sort of deal or contract with the anime production studio to release it on this format as all the other Japanese retailers are only able to stock the DVD version. Pretty weird isn’t it? I wonder if this has ever happened to any other series before where only one major retailer is able to exclusively release it on BD format while the others only get the DVD version.
Anyway, as of this post, it seems the BD version of volume 1 has sold out completely on Animate’s online shop. I wouldn’t exactly say it sold a huge amount of copies, given the available anime BD sales data did not even have its BD format ranked at all on the charts on the week it was released in. Its DVD format was barely able to sneak into the DVD sales chart with just a little over 1000 copies sold so I’m guessing the BD version may have sold less than 1000 copies which was not enough to be above the threshold for it to rank. Other tidbit of information is that Animate is holding an event with the majority of the voice cast for Shirokuma Cafe in November, and chances to buy tickets are only available through purchasing volumes 1-3 of their exclusive BD release.
The listing for the limited edition goods that comes with the BD also stated it’d have “original goods” for the series (besides the drama CD and slip case). I guess the mini tote bag below is probably that item. It was placed inside the white box that had the face of the polar bear.
Last BD for this post is another Wagnaria live event home video release for “Working’!!”, this time called the “Wagnaria Spring Thanksgiving Festival”. This was the event held back in April and the one that buyers had the opportunity to purchase tickets for if they bought the limited edition DVD/BD of the 5th volume of the anime’s second season.
Next anime BD loot will be pretty light (final volume of Ano Natsu and 2nd volume of Shirokuma Cafe) and will only get lighter as I haven’t been interested in importing any new anime series lately. I have however decided to buy two copies of the second BD boxset of Fate/ZERO, one from Animate and the other from Ufotable’s web shop as both have such amazing exclusives with their release that I can’t wait to post about.
